Loads of you have been asking what I use to create my artwork. I thought you might like to see what I have in my (slightly bashed!) Pencil Box. In this little film I’ll explain what I like to use for my art, and how and why I like to use it!
I hope you enjoyed hearing about the mish-mash of things I tend to use to make my work… I also have two big trolleys full of different kinds of paints, shelves full of inks and other exciting bits and bobs that I’ll tell you about soon!
(I should mention that I have numerous mugs full of pencils on my desk - but this box holds my FAVOURITE things!)
Here is a list of the bits and bobs I talk about, incase you’d like to try any of them for yourself…
Faber-Castell Polychromos black pencil crayons (I get through loads of these)
I like to have a sharp pencil sharpener (I try to match the sharpener with the brand of pencil as they work better)
Signing pens - nice and thick! Uni-ball Gel Impact are my favourites
3H, 7H and 4H pencils
Milan 430 erasers are brilliant
Pencil crayon brands I LOVE Faber-Castel Polychromos, Staedtler Karat Aquarell, Caran d’Ache, Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer.
Cotman watercolour paint (in a tube)
Windsor & Newton Gouache
Pigma Micron pens (0005 & 0003 excellent for fine details!)
Colour Giant Lyra pencil crayons are ace for larger pieces of work
Palomino Blackwing pencils and long point pencil sharpener
Stabilo highlighter pens
I’d also love to hear about your favourite products in the comments!?…
Thanks for watching, I really hope some of you find this helpful and might be encouraged to try something new. :)
Whilst you’re here, I’ll let you in to a secret…
…do you remember my 30 Prints - 30 Days project from July? I had to keep one of each print in my studio, just in case any got lost or damaged in the post. But all orders have arrived now and I have some that I am able to release!
I know loads of you missed out (I’m sorry!) But if you check back tomorrow at 7pm (current UK time) there will be some prints available here. I’m aware that all my 30/30 prints (apart from three) are currently sold out. Available stock will appear at 7pm…there is only one of most of them so please be quick if there’s one you missed or would like to own…
Also - if you’re sat with a cuppa just now, why not have a browse on my website? There are lots of nice things on there, including my new mug!
I also love your videos and all the information about what pencils you like. I can't draw in the least, really, but I love learning about your process and adore your illustrations. Thank you!!
I could listen to your voice all day long! I love your videos! ◡̈
