'OTTO The TOP Dog' - out today!
...and print no. 11 is released - ...and it goes nicely with the book :)
TODAY IS THE BIG DAY!
Publication day is always a funny feeling. I never fully believe that I have finished working on a book until I see it on the shelves. I haven’t seen it ‘in the wild’ yet but I do have a copy right beside me - and I think you’re going to love this one! Some reviews are already in and it’s fair to say - Otto has some fans!
Obviously today called for me to release a limited edition print of… OTTO!
This limited edition print will be available from 7pm (UK summertime) tonight as part of my ‘30 Prints - 30 Days’ project. It’s is part of a very limited edition of TEN beautiful giclée prints.
You may be familiar with the front cover by now - but I have to share it again today!
…and here are a few - well… ‘noises’ from the man himself, OTTO on his Big Day…
…and here are a few of my favourite pages from the book… It was a brilliant book to work on. But please do remind me, the next time I have an idea for a new book - it’s best not to have NINE characters in a story because it takes NINE times longer to complete the artwork! I was thinking that my next book might need to be about a solitary ant that lives on sheet of white paper. What do you think?!
I’ll share more about the process of making the book with you very soon!
With love from me and happy WOOF from Otto x
P.s - two of these little prints are also available (here)…
Someone looks very happy!!! Congratulations. A book is alot of work. :) I love the idea of a ant on paper. What if the ant lived in a hard, complicated situation with all of it's huge ant family? It was an odd looking ant so the other ants messed with it. That would create loads who I'm sure could relate. Surprising everyone though, it grew wings to fly off of the paper! It kept flying into a world of pure fun, imagination and best of all freedom! You could call it the Freedom Ant! It could help little kids know not to give up, even if they're different from others, etc. That they too may grow wings when old enough, etc. and fly to their freedom.
Congratulations! I can’t draw but I do motion capture animation and I definitely understand wanting a next project to have 1 character and no landscape :D I love your drawings. They have so much life!
